SWAMP YANKEES

The Swamp Yankees are thick as thieves.

Five young bucks with diverse musical tastes who met while cutting class in high school, but are united in a love of classic country and good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. Since their first show in 2010, the Yanks have played weddings and wakes, fundraisers and front porches, and every dingy honky-tonk in Toronto. They make people dance and holler along. They play past last call. Most of all they love to put a unique spin on their favourite female-fronted songs; a version of “Johnny Get Angry” that makes you feel like you’re lost in a booze can in the wild, wild west; the Nancy Sinatra classic “These Boots Are Made For Walking” that sounds like it’s been soaked in bourbon and set on fire; and a ripping version of Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man”, to name just a few.

So, Boys Doing Girls.  Sounds hot, doesn’t it?  Well, just wait until you hear the debut record by The Swamp Yankees of the same name.
